Since 2021, METRO has been working on a plan to improve its bus network. The Draft Reimagined Network is a service plan for METRO’s fixed-route bus network that seeks to make transit more useful to more people, by expanding access to more destinations and opportunities.

It is designed to provide frequent and convenient service in busy places where many people need to travel to, while continuing to offer lifeline services in places where and for people for whom transit is essential.

In 2021 and 2022, METRO conducted two rounds of outreach with the public and stakeholders on the Reimagined Network, refining the design after each round.  Now, we are preparing to implement the first changes later this year, on June 4th.

Before we can start running any new services, we need to hear from you to finalize the details of the upcoming service change.

You can provide a comment on the entire plan, or on the details of specific changes to routes until March 1st, 2023. Use the link to the right to take our survey, or use the form at the bottom of this page!

The key features of the Reimagined Network include:

  • Restoration of the number of service hours to pre-pandemic levels.

  • More streamlined service to take people where they need to go faster.

  • Expanded weekend service – all routes will run on Saturdays and Sundays except for 3 regional routes.

  • Five new high frequency corridors:

    • West Market

    • South Arlington

    • East Exchange

    • Grant/Brown

    • Euclid/Diagonal/Vernon Odom

  • Three new 30-minute routes added to the five existing 30-minute services.

  • New regional connections to Kent, Brimfield and Cuyahoga County.

With this network, the median county resident who lives near transit would be about to reach about 53% more jobs with a 45 minute trip, and a majority of those residents would be near a route than comes at least every 30 minutes. Over 97% of riders on today’s network would be within a ¼-mile walk to a stop with the new network, and over 63% would be within a short walk of a route running every 15 minutes.

Compare the Existing and Reimagined Networks

The Reimagined Network is designed to provide frequent and convenient service in high ridership corridors and markets where (and for whom) transit is essential.

In this map and all frequency maps in this project:

Red lines come every 15 minutes or better. Currently, the only METRO route that meets this standard is the DASH downtown circulator, which runs every 10-15 minutes.

Purple lines run every 16-29 minutes.

Dark blue lines run every 30-45 minutes. All lines shown in this color on this map run every 30 minutes.

Light blue lines run every 46 minutes or more.

Brown lines offer a limited number of trips throughout the day.

The Reimagine METRO project had six main phases, concluding in Spring 2022 with the completion of the Transit Development Plan. Now, METRO is preparing to implement the first chase in June 2023. The graphic below shows the progress of the study from its beginning in early 2021.
